Church of the Week
Sycamore Baptist Church Pastor: Matthew Johnson Praises: Rapid growth of the church--especially among young families. Youth group has grown dramatically. (Below is a Personal note from Director of Missions, Dr. Mark Inman) "Pictured below is the blue door of Sycamore Baptist Church. The blue color for the doors was chosen after the church consulted the NIU Art Department on what color went best with the building. No one except the Lord could have known how the Lord would use the blue doors. Hits on the church website rapidly increased once the doors were painted. Sycamore came to be known as the "blue door" church. When church members talked with prospects--the reply of the prospects was "oh, you are from the blue door church. This is not to say that this is the only reason the church grew, but isn't it amazing that the Lord is always one step ahead of us in growing His church." Prayer Requests: Children's Workers needed. New families acclimated into the church. That everyone in the church would become a missionary to his/her neighborhood and circle of friends. Families of Faith Channahon Pastor: Randy Blan Praises: We are growing and outgrowing our facilities. Our school and church both have had numerous kids and adults saved. Our day care is up and running and growing. We just started a new spanish church which is doing real well and growing. (Pray for Pastor Francisco and Laura.) Our mission church is doing well and growing. (Pray for Pastor Joe and Ronda) Men's conference planned for March 18-19 "Men of War". Women's conference planned for April 8-9th "This Means War". Prayer Requests: That our church has a deeper passion to pray and desire to experience God in a real way. That our church will walk by faith and not by sight That we will see more saved this year than any year in the past. Our school-needs teachers and more staff that have a heart for students of all ages. Must have day care workers too! We need to finish our building and we are $200,000 short of paying off those who gave us our first loan. Pray for our school. We have many hurting students we deal with daily. The school takes much of our staff working together to work with the kids and parents. It is an exhausting ministry but none more rewarding. We have many students that need scholarships and hate to turn any away. Pray for God's blessing on our staff, students, finances. Our high school has Spiritual Emphasis Day next month. It is like a day long youth retreat. This month the HS kids have been learning in depth how to share their testimony. Many have realized they don't have a testimony and many have been driven to renew their commitment to the Lord. It has been a soul searching time for our teens. Soon they will have a chance to share those testimonies. We are in need of more workers for a growing children's ministry including a preteen and college age workers class. We are looking for other church staff, possibly a church administrator. Pray for wisdom. Church of the Week

We are adding a Wednesday night prayer service beginning in January. We also have a brand new website at www.newhopebaptistaurora.com which has had over 5800 visits to the website since it was launched a few months ago. We are seeing a real online engagement with our sermons. We also had a night of worship featuring the gospel blue grass group On Tyme. A big praise to God for healing my wife Nina, the Dr. who is a believer declared it a miracle. Her surgical wound from the hysterectomy became so badly infected they called in the at home care nursing people to address it. They were going to use a wound V.A.C. on it, by the time the medical equipment company delivered the device (3 days later) the wound was completely healed and now she is down to one follow up visit next week. Prayer requests Please pay for Karla Pitts, she is undergoing Chemo for Cancer, please pray for Wayne Hill's health. Pray for our Christmas Eve service, pray that we can reach even more people in our community this year. Pray that Christ is glorified in all that we do. Pray for Tom & Juanita Pitts health, final prayer request is for wisdom as the church is looking to build a new fellowship hall, we have a small house next to the church that has been converted to a fellowship hall but no longer can meet the needs we have. Multiple times this last year we have had to have members eat outside because we do not have the room. Along with the wisdom please pray for God's provision in providing the necessary funds to accomplish this task.
