Families of Faith Channahon Pastor: Randy Blan Praises: We are growing and outgrowing our facilities. Our school and church both have had numerous kids and adults saved. Our day care is up and running and growing. We just started a new spanish church which is doing real well and growing. (Pray for Pastor Francisco and Laura.) Our mission church is doing well and growing. (Pray for Pastor Joe and Ronda) Men's conference planned for March 18-19 "Men of War". Women's conference planned for April 8-9th "This Means War". Prayer Requests: That our church has a deeper passion to pray and desire to experience God in a real way. That our church will walk by faith and not by sight That we will see more saved this year than any year in the past. Our school-needs teachers and more staff that have a heart for students of all ages. Must have day care workers too! We need to finish our building and we are $200,000 short of paying off those who gave us our first loan. Pray for our school. We have many hurting students we deal with daily. The school takes much of our staff working together to work with the kids and parents. It is an exhausting ministry but none more rewarding. We have many students that need scholarships and hate to turn any away. Pray for God's blessing on our staff, students, finances. Our high school has Spiritual Emphasis Day next month. It is like a day long youth retreat. This month the HS kids have been learning in depth how to share their testimony. Many have realized they don't have a testimony and many have been driven to renew their commitment to the Lord. It has been a soul searching time for our teens. Soon they will have a chance to share those testimonies. We are in need of more workers for a growing children's ministry including a preteen and college age workers class. We are looking for other church staff, possibly a church administrator. Pray for wisdom. Flint Michigan Water Filtration Installation Project
Dear Disaster Relief Leaders Most of you have heard about the ongoing “quality of water” issue in Flint, Michigan. Today I was on a conference call with the National Disaster Relief Leadership. The State Emergency Management leadership of Michigan has requested Southern Baptist Disaster Relief to help in the continuing response to this water contamination problem. Over the next several months Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Teams from around the country are asked to come to Flint, MI to help install water filter systems in individual homes. This is very different than most disaster responses. But because Southern Baptist Disaster Relief had such an impact after the flooding in Warren, MI (we sent five teams from Illinois) the Michigan Emergency Operations Center is asking specifically for Southern Baptists to help them again. I have attached a document with the “Scope of Work” statement giving details of the work needed. Each week (for approximately 6 months) the request is for 18 people to help with the Water Filtration Installation Project. This would include 5 teams of three people each who will work to install the filter systems in individual homes. In addition to these 15 people there would be a need for 2 cooks and 1 “Operations Leader” to work with the overall project managers to coordinate the work each day. You would not need a trailer or any heavy equipment. As much as possible you would need to enlist teams of three who can work together to install the filters. You do not have to enlist all 18 volunteers but you can certainly do that if you are able. If you only have a team of 3 then you could go if there are openings during the week of your interest. If you need assistance in putting together teams, I suggest you first communicate with your regional leaders to put together teams of 3. When you have a specific group and a specific week, then communicate directly to me and I will pass this information on to the NAMB DOC and then confirm your week back to you. The DR project leaders in Flint will provide some basic training for teams to install the filters. Since these DR teams are going into homes, it is important that responding individuals are credentialed DR workers with a background check. Read over the attachment and then feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. Thanks for considering this Disaster Relief Ministry opportunity in Flint, Michigan. cid:67A0AE49-0203-41DE-A8ED-B761E6893659 Rex Alexander Specialized Missions Mobilization Director Illinois Baptist State Association 217 391 3134 Crossover St. Louis 3000 Volunteers Needed Dear Associational Leaders, As you probably already know the SBC Convention will be held this summer in St Louis. That brings an important challenge for us. Before the Convention convenes June 14-15, 2016, Southern Baptist from across the country will come the week before to share Jesus with our communities. That event is called Crossover St Louis 2016. We need your help! There are project on both sides of the river. I am asking you to help me get the word out for our Illinois projects. Encourage your churches to go to http://www.meba.org/crossover-st-louis-2016, click on the Illinois Projects link and prayerfully commit to one of the projects. We really need your help in getting this word out to your churches. We need about 3,000 volunteers. In addition to Crossover, the Southern Baptist Conference of Associational Leaders will be holding its annual meeting June 12-13, right before the convention. Please go to http://www.sbcassociations.org/ to learn more about this event and register for it. It promises to be a meeting worth attending. If you need more information about either of these events, please do not hesitate to give me a call.
